Scientific Instruments

There are five platforms in the Department of Deep-sea Biology, each equipped with advanced instruments to facilitate various research activities. These platforms include the Microorganism Culture and Observation Platform, the Cell Culture Platform, the Active Substance Separation Platform, the Deep-sea Environmental Simulation Culture Platform, and the Molecular Experiment Platform.

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)

Freeze-driers

Rotary Evaporators

Gel Imager

The Microorganism Culture and Observation Platform is furnished with essential equipment such as biological safety cabinets, fluorescence microscopes, and spectrophotometers, enabling safe and detailed microbial studies.

The Cell Culture Platform features a flow cytometer, crucial for analyzing and sorting cells based on specific properties.

The Active Substance Separation Platform includes High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), freeze-driers, and rotary evaporators, instrumental in isolating and purifying active compounds.

The Deep-sea Environmental Simulation Culture Platform is equipped with a high-Pressure culture autoclave, pressure devices, and high-pressure bioreactors, designed to replicate the extreme conditions of the deep sea for cultivating organisms.

Lastly, the Molecular Experiment Platform houses advanced equipment like Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines, real-time quantitative PCR detecting systems, microplate readers, and high-throughput sequencers, enabling cutting-edge research in molecular biology and genetics.

Each platform's instruments play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of deep-sea biology and facilitate groundbreaking research in this fascinating field.
