From April 13 to 20, 2024, Deputy Director Peng Xiaotong led a team to Vienna, Austria, to participate in the recruitment and publicity work of the 2024 EGU International Conference. During the conference, IDSSE showed the scientific research results of the international “Abyss Science Programs”and the scientific research platform and equipment, which attracted many overseas scientists to exchange and consult. Among them, including outstanding talents from well-known universities or research institutions such as Imperial College London, University of Cambridge, University of Edinburgh, University of Bonn, University of Vienna, Free University Amsterdam, Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Peking University, etc. Their disciplinary background covers many fields such as geophysics, submarine geomorphic structure, marine geological hazards, environmental microplastics, paleoclimate and so on. This recruitment has a good effect on the introduction of high-quality overseas talents. At the same time, it has attracted the strong interest of scientists from Russia, Norway, France and other countries in our deep-sea samples and offshore scientific research platform, further promoting international cooperation and contributing to the implementation of the global abyssal science program.
